Last night we were invited to a tequila tasting at a nice bar in the Texas Medical Center area. I’d never been to an event like this before. It was a lot of fun and I’ll definitely do it again. I got home last night around midnight and although it was late, I knew there was no way I could go to bed without sharing the margarita flight recipe with you.
The margarita flight is an exciting twist on a classic drink recipe. It’s so much fun it should be served at your next party or gathering!
THE MARGARITA’S HISTORY
The margarita’s history is a long one. The drink, which originated in Mexico, has been traced back as far as the 19th century. The word “margarita” means “pearl” in Spanish, so it’s fitting that this popular cocktail often features a shimmering, clear tequila base.
The classic margarita recipe calls for just three ingredients: tequila, lime juice, and Cointreau or Triple Sec. However, there are countless variations on this recipe—some recipes call for more than one kind of alcohol or even no alcohol at all! There are even recipes that call for using flavored tequilas or sweeteners like sugar instead of simple syrup.
It’s very difficult to pinpoint exactly who invented this famous cocktail because it was first created by several different people in different places at the same time. In fact, there are over eight different stories about how this drink came to be!
What is A Margarita Flight?
A Margarita Flight is a drink that consists of four different types of margaritas, each with a different alcohol base. Each type of margarita has its own flavor and strength. Usually, the alcohol bases are tequila, vodka, rum and gin.
